Hookin2Hockey is Hockey Australia's junior entry program to field hockey. It is the newer development of what was once called Minkey.
HI2H is designed for children aged approximately 3 - 6 years old.
With an empasis on fun, the program offers kids the perfect opportunity to get out, make friends, and play.

Do I need to buy equipment?

That's the beauty, all kids are provided a stick and shin pads. All you need is a mouthguard. Gives you and your child the perfect opportunity to enjoy entry level hockey without the full financial commitment.

Is hockey safe for my child?

One of the most common misconceptions around hockey is the safety factor.
As a non contact sport, majority of on field clashes are done with the sticks attacking the ball, not bodies coming together like soccer and rugby.
Kids are taught about safety from the start, and the ball is kept on the ground in the early junior divisions.
What you might see on TV or socials is high level elite hockey where the skill and experience levels of the players is at a point high balls are still considered safe.
All thisand a number of age appropriate rules is why hockey remains one of the safest team sports anyone can play.
